Constructed in the eighteenth century, Gulganj Fort is an important example of Bundeli architecture in the region. The process of conservation planning for Gulganj Fort was underpinned by thorough historical research, followed by extensive documentation of site and structure including material and construction techniques, condition and patterns of decay. Documenting and observing the structure through different seasons enhanced the understanding of decay patterns and intrinsic problems with the historic structure. This guided the careful conservation of the fort. Currently, it is an active recreational space for the villagers.
