Thar Desert is a semi-arid -arid landscape. Rajasthan has the largest spread of the Thar comprising of Bikaner, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur, and Churu districts. The research focussed on four districts, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur. It systematically studied the relationship between man and nature through continued systems which have been a by-product of this relationship in the given geographical context. Further, it explored how such interactions impact human life and shape their adaptability through time. Based on the insights gained through fieldwork and research, the study recommended alternatives to manage Thar ecosystems sustainably based on its unique ecological character, for the policymakers and administrators.
